New truck market grew by 70% in May

In May of the previous year, the market of new trucks in Russia showed the significant growth. So, according to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, its volume was 7.5 thousand units, which is higher by 70% than in April 2020. According to the agency's experts, the continuing high positive dynamics is explained by the low base of the previous period, when restrictive measures were in Russia to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.

The domestic brand KAMAZ holds the leadership in this segment by a wide margin, which accounted for a third of all new purchased trucks in the country last month. In quantitative terms, this corresponds to 2.5 thousand units, which is 25% higher than in May 2020. The most popular foreign car in this market was Swedish Scania - its products were sold in a circulation of 795 units (almost 5 times higher). Russian manufacturer GAZ is the next, the result of which was 751 vehicles (+ 59%). In addition to them, Belarusian MAZ (408 units; + 96%) and German Mercedes-Benz (405 units; + 123%) also got into the TOP-5 of the cargo segment of the market.

According to the results of 5 months of 2021, the market of new trucks is also in positive territory. During this period, 36.6 thousand of them were purchased in Russia, which is 38% higher than in January-May of the previous year. You can find more information about it here.
