At the end of eleven months of 2020, the Russian car market was 1 million 346 thousand 351 cars (-10.3%), according to the data of the Association of European Businesses. As noted in the AEB, a good start to the New Year's race, as expected, continued, and another month showed the growth.
The fall in the ruble exchange rate that began in the summer stimulates consumer demand and, accordingly, sales growth. The season of pre-New Year sales has already begun, and the expected price adjustments by manufacturers create an additional incentive for quick purchasing decisions. Recall, according to the current forecast of the AEB, by the end of 2020, 1 million 552 thousand passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be sold in Russia, which means a 13.5% decrease in compare with the previous year.
Leadership in the Russian car market is held by the LADA brand, the sales of which were 38,064 vehicles in the previous month (+ 22%). It should be noted that this is the best result of AVTOVAZ's monthly sales since December 2013. The second place in terms of sales volume is kept by KIA - sales of 21,012 cars (+ 7%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. The third line is occupied by Hyundai with 17,446 sold cars, which is higher by 7% than a year ago. This is followed by Renault - cars of this brand were chosen by 13,852 buyers (+ 8%). Volkswagen finished the top five this time, with sales of 10,208 cars (+ 11%). Skoda (9666 units, + 7%), Toyota (8199 units, -7%), GAZ (5540 units, -12%), Nissan (4924 units, -4%) and UAZ (4109 units, + 10%) also entered the TOP-10 of best-selling brands in November.
