Russia plans to reach the production of 2.38 million passenger cars per a year by 2035

Russia plans to produce 2.38 million passenger cars per a year by 2035, as well as 230 thousand light commercial vehicles and 117 thousand trucks, as well as 43 thousand buses, follows from the consolidated strategy for the development of the manufacturing industry of the Russian Federation until 2024 and for the period until 2035.

It is noted that by 2035, the share of passenger traffic of automobile passenger transport in the total passenger traffic for all modes of transport will be more than 25%, and transport mobility by 2025 will be estimated at 30 trips per person per a year, with the same indicator in 2020. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, in 2019, 1.5 million passenger cars rolled off Russian conveyors, which is lower by 2.5% than a year before.

Truck production reached 156 thousand units, which is lower by 1.1% than in 2018. It is worth noting that in April of the previous year, a new Mercedes-Benz enterprise was opened in the Esipovo industrial park near Moscow, where the production of E-Class sedans was launched. And in June, Haval plant began the operating in the Tula region, which produces new Haval F7 and F7x crossovers, as well as the Haval H9 frame SUV.

Other foreign car manufacturers also continued to update and expand the range of Russian assemblies (Renault Arkana, Skoda Karoq and BMW X7, new generations of Toyota RAV4, KIA Soul and K900, as well as updated Nissan Qashqai, Renault Duster, etc.) Meanwhile, Ford Sollers completed the production of cars in Russia in June of 2019, having closed its enterprises in Naberezhnye Chelny and in Vsevolozhsk.
