It will be banned to repair cars with used spare parts in Russia

The Eurasian Economic Commission has approved amendments to the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of vehicles."


As part of the innovations, car owners will be prohibited from repairing cars with used and restored parts, writes portal. New amendments will enter into force 180 days after their official publication on July 15th, 2020. The used spare parts for seats equipped with seat belts will be also prohibited. Also, it will be forbidden to repair with used parts the steering elements, the brake system, catalysts, immobilizers, mufflers and airbags.

In addition, according to the new amendments, car owners will no longer be able to install independently additional equipment for their cars. Now, in order to equip a car with an antenna, roof rack or towbar, owners will have to obtain permission to operate the equipment at a certified testing laboratory. In addition, the new ban will affect the installation of armor film that protects the front and rear lights. According to experts, the new amendments may negatively affect private service centers, which will have to use expensive new parts to restore many parts of the car.
