KAMAZ opened the production of electric buses in Moscow

May 4, 2021

On April 27th, KAMAZ opened an assembly plant for electric buses in Moscow on the basis of the Sokolniki Railway Car Repair and Construction Plant.

The first assembled electric buses in Moscow will enter the routes in May, the press service of KAMAZ reports.

As noted, the organization of the production of electric buses in the capital will reduce the delivery time, assembly and maintenance of transport and will save on logistics. The created production facilities are designed to assemble up to 500 electric buses per a year. The vehicles themselves, as before, are delivered to Moscow from Neftekamsk on special trawls, and their equipment continues in Sokolniki. Localization of electric bus production in Moscow will reach 40%. At the same time, about 20 of the most expensive and high-tech assembly operations will be carried out at SVARZ - from the installation of doors and interior trim to the software equipping.

At the second stage of production development, it is planned to reconstruct another workshop until 2023, which will allow an additional production of 200 electric buses per a year. The opening of an assembly plant for KAMAZ electric buses at the Sokolniki Carriage Repair and Construction Plant is a part of a large program to replace the bus fleet in Moscow. By 2030, the whole Mosgortrans fleet should become environmentally friendly.
