
The document, which proposes the exemption of electric car owners from transport tax, has been introduced to Moscow City Council by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin. The benefit is planned to remain in force for five years, until the end of 2024. The stimulation of the expansion of the usage of environmentally friendly cars is planned through the new adjustment.
There are 4600 electric cars in Russia as of the beginning of July 2019, according to Autostat data.
The consulting company PwC predicts that the average annual growth rate of the Russian electric car market may reach 30% by 2025. The growth rate can go up to 60% in Moscow, on the other hand.
