Domestic car sales are growing, while foreign car sales are falling

In the 1st quarter of 2021, the sales of new cars of domestic brands grew, while foreign cars fell. This was found out by the experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", having examined the statistics of the AEB.

So, from January to March this year, 99.4 thousand new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles of domestic brands were sold in Russia. This is higher by 1.4% than in the same period in 2020. According to the agency's experts, their share was 25.7% of the Russian market. At the same time, a year ago this indicator was lower - 24.6%. In turn, sales of new foreign cars (passenger cars and LCVs) for the 1st quarter were 287.9 thousand units, by showing a decline of 4.2%.

As a result, their share decreased for the year from 75.4% to 74.3%. Recall that the whole Russian market in January - March 2021, according to the AEB, showed a decline by 2.8% to 387.3 thousand units.
