The aforementioned figure indicates a growth of over 30%, in comparison with 2018. 1.7 billion rubles were spent on purchases in 2018. Supply of new components has started from manufacturers in Kaliningrad region and the CIS countries in particular. Batteries, including the ones manufactured with absorbed electrolyte technology from AKOM and Tubor companies, established in Togliatti and Nizhny Novgorod respectively, car tyres from Kordiant in Yaroslavl and Pirelli TR in Voronezh, wheel disks from Hartung in Chelyabinsk, tool kits from BAAZ in Baranovichi, Belarus and wind-shields for Hyundai HD 78 models from AGC in Nizhny Novgorod are amongst the new components.
As a result of the development of the localisation programme and the improvement of production technology in Avtotor, enterprises have been established in Kaliningrad region, which already launched the production of various types of automotive components: wiring harnesses, bumpers, exhaust gas systems, as well as seats from Yengsan KLD company and multimedia systems and air conditioning systems (HVAC) from Motrex KLD.
The production and installation of various types of superstructures for the chassis of Hyundai commercial vehicles, for instance, are made by the Hephaestus company in Kaliningrad.
More than 20 superstructures of various types are currently being installed on commercial vehicles manufactured at Avtotor, including airborne platforms, vans, refrigeration units, vacuum cleaners and dustcarts.
A special project has been implemented in 2019: the Hyundai HD 35C trucks have been installed with dump truck superstructures with three-sided unloading. Seven of those trucks have been transferred to the municipality institution of Kaliningrad: Chistota to be used on the streets of the city. The entire operations of the engineering project and the preparation of the superstructures for the aforementioned vehicles have been conducted by the Russian company: SmartEcho from Nizhny Novgorod.
As stressed by the Vice-President on localisation: Dmitry Chemakin, the uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that the technical decision has been taken initially, ensuring the usage of modern technology in the narrow streets of Kaliningrad. Meanwhile, a high level of localisation has been achieved, as a result of cooperation with enterprises within the Kaliningrad region.
According to Dmitry Chemakin, the factory will systematically expand its model range of special and municipal vehicles, which will be assigned to the usage of the municipalities of Kaliningrad region, as well as other parts of Russia.
The amount of investment in the manufacturing sectors of the Kaliningrad region economy, by the companies attracted by Avtotor within the framework of the localisation programme, has exceeded €6.2 million, during the 2018-2019 period. The planned investment amount for the year 2020 is €1.85 million.
“We are consistently developing a localisation programme, creating conditions for the emergence of new high-tech production industries in Kaliningrad region, which would bring investment into the regional economy, creating jobs and raising the tax base” – as told by Chemakin: “Avtotor orders currently form a lifeline for more than 300 small and medium-size enterprises in the region”.
Chemakin has also highlighted the opportunity of becoming a partner for any Russian company, which is prepared to manufacture high-quality products within the scope of the localisation programme: “We constantly emphasise the importance of the usage of Russian production components to our partners. As soon as a home made component complying with the world standard appears in the market, we start cooperation” – said the Vice President.
As told by Chemakin, the plans for the near future include the start of the supply of windshields and side windows for KIA Cerato from Fuyao Steklo Rus in Kaluga and other projects on the localisation of components for various car models, manufactured at the facilities of Avtotor: full-cycle production including the welding and the painting of bodyworks.
