May 13, 2020

Czech company MW Motors has developed an electric car based on the UAZ Hunter SUV, called Spartan. Sales of new items should begin before the end of this year, those who want to buy SUV will have to pay 40 thousand Euros.

The electric car will retain completely its recognizable appearance: structural changes will affect the technical part in a bulk. A powerful electric engine, which is currently undergoing final tests and a battery pack with a capacity of 56 to 90 kW / h will provide the novelty with reliable dynamic properties and an impressive range. And the geometrical parameters and the plug-in four-wheel drive with a reduction gear will allow the keeping of the possibilities outside the asphalt at the same level.

According to Oleg Savikov, the head of the regional export sales group, the EV project based on the UAZ Hunter fits optimally into the overall development vector of the European car market. “Firstly, we see a steady interest in UAZ models in Europe - in 2019, sales increased by more than 65%. For the same period, the share of electric vehicles grew from 6% (in 2018) to 8% of the total number of sold vehicles in the EU countries. Secondly, the SUV segment, which includes UAZ Hunter and its electric version MW Spartan, showed the largest increase (+ 6%) in the European Union for the previous year (+ 41.7%), which also indicates the prospects of the launched project”.

In addition, the manager noted that the growing number of requests for UAZ vehicles with the right-hand drive from far-abroad markets also testifies the relevance of the project. The company expects in the near future to be able to satisfy the wishes of customers from Asian countries, southern Africa, the UK, and Japan.
